[Letter of Francis William Newman to Dr. Chapman]

7 Park Village East NW,
October 7/58

    Dear Sir,

Please to excuse me from your party—I have many petty engagements, many things to prepare for a new lesson, and peculiar occupation with a private pupil.

I cannot think what more I have to say in talking over the proposed article. Is it essential to meet for it? It cannot be very deep what you have to say, I think, if it can be transacted in the midst of the chattering of a party—

Sincerely yours,
F. W. Newman

P.S.

I did not venture to express any judgment of your Medical Article, which I have never found time to do more than glance at. I only congratulated you that it had met with approbation from Mr. Walpole.
